Cellular Automata is a way of thinking about computing, natural structures, and the wider world as a group of many entities each following simple rules.
Cellular Automata classes have been about weaving, knitting, wooden material, paper, color coding, microscopes and coming together to imagine, question, and interconnect knowledges. We play with different rulesets, materials and experiences. During the last few weeks we have explored beyond cellular automata, encouraging a critical approach to computing, natural structures and the rules and processes surrounding us.
We have challenged and imagined conceptions of automata. We have shared what inspires us about natural structures. By exploring the fundamental rules of cellular automata, we’ve been able to challenge and reimagine our conceptions of what is possible.
We have gone beyond abstract concepts and have been inspired by the beauty of examining the so called natural world around us. We have gained new insights into how patterns and structures emerge from seemingly simple rules.
